The Cake Is A Lie

I was wondering who actually plays Eve here? And what do you like to do in the game?

I'm currently in an anti-pirate corp, we patrol low sec clearing pirates out (Generally breaking gate camps) and we have several outposts now in 0.0 space.

If anyone wants to chat in game i'm "Gold Rogers"

I downloaded this game a few days ago and got the trial, and I have to say, it was incredibly daunting. I dont think that I will play it much now because of the learning curve, as im in my final 6 months of schooling, which takes up a LOT of time, and I dont have any time to learn how to play such an indepth game. I think I'll try it again when I finish school though, as it really does look exciting, but there is just so much to take in and to do. (provided that they dont release an Elder Scrolls MMO before that, otherwise no one will ever see my again apart from in game :P)

Ive been playing the game since March 06. Have the capability to fly most Caldari cap ships up to the Wyvern. Strongest ship i own at the moment is the Raven. I generally sit on about 375 mil and train a lot. Im a combat pilot and usually run guns for our miners. Had a stint in zero space, but it didnt end well. so now we have 2 high sec POS's and do a TON of research and mining. but our ultimate goal is get back to zero space. we are heavily anti-pirate and always keep a small eye on the local in case people are in trouble. Love the game...wish i had even MORE time to devote to it.

UFA (The alliance i'm part of) are looking to recruit a few more corps at the moment.

From what I remember the requirements are:

    - Minimum 1 cap ship pilot and ship
    - Wants to live in 0.0 space and help defend our space.
    - Min 20 active people.

As I mentioned we are well established out in 0.0 now, do you want me to get more information for you?

Having paused scrolling NR for a few seconds to answer an IM, I found myself watching the Eve ad at the top.

I have a feeling I'll be back at it by the end of the week..

Tried A Real Guitar After Guitar Hero

I think my trial runs out on Saturday... Then I have a week vacation from school so if I actually bought it I could really get ahead, yet I don't know if I want to continue. for about one and a half weeks I just ran agent missions as a fighter and accumulated 2 million ISK, I had a Merlin, but switched to a Krestel because of the significantly larger cargo hold and my affinity for missiles. I'd rather have 4 missiles going rather than 2 missiles and 2 railguns. In the last few days I began salvaging with a Cormorant. Salvaging really makes me money, first time out I made $700,000 from the salvaging, and another $300,000 from the mission and bounties. Second time around I only made $250,000 from the salvaging. But I got really irritated yesterday after having to do the same mission for like the 5th time this week, plus I don't have the training for tractor beams so I have to fly to all my wrecks to salvage. I think the training will be done tomorrow afternoon, I might play again after that.

I don't know, it seems awfully repetitive to me.... The same agent missions over and over again, then salvage... Maybe I need to establish myself some more, build some ISK, get a cruiser, get into a player corp and the game will get fun? Yes, no, maybe so?

If your account expires you still complete training your current skill.

Eve can feel repetitive but in a real corp it is a lot of fun, going PvP, doing group mining, ratting, all that stuff.

PVP in EVE is unlike any other MMO. If you die, you lose your ship. People ACTUALLY have something to lose, unlike WoW where you have spawn in a GY that may or may not be far away. woo. Theres actually stakes in volved in EVE. I love that intensity.

I think I might buy one month. I learned the game for two weeks, so it's time to expand a little bit for another month and I'll see how I like it then. Probably be in a player corporation and learn all that mumbo jumbo. I just can't wait to go up to my dad and be like "You know how I made you pay $15 a month for me to be addicted to WoW for two and a half years, well I want your credit card so I can play another MMO!" =D

The whole lose factor is that draws me to Eve, I really hate PvP where you just respawn with no lose, when I want to play a game like that it's FPS time. Not MMO time.

    Shoots Rage-Quitters In The Mouth

I've been playing since October. It's amazing. Really makes you think about what you're doing. That's the fun of it though. Games like WoW have no risk for "great" reward, EVE, on the other hand, has a very good risk/reward ratio. You get no where without risk. Besides, I've used too many periods in the post, but once you're in a good corporation (i.e. Eve University), then it's fun. War is the best part. You aren't safe.

    Anywhere.

But you can fight, anywhere. Without getting conquered by Concord. Even though 5 minutes can mean 5 months worth of work to vanish in a brightly colored explosion.

At least the explosion was pretty though.

Empire wars can be fun yes, but last time someone declared us, they spent most of that time station hugging and popping lone players.

Every time we went on the offensive they stayed docked up and then ended the war after 1 week.

0.0 combat is much more fun IF you can find it, my corp was fighting for TWELVE hours straight last weekend, unfortunately I missed in :(

Well, when your corp is as powerful as mine, ship spinning is about all the other corp can safely do. Longest war I've been in lasted a month, which was effectively 1 fight/week... They do like stations.

And we blasted them but good, too. The largest battle was about 2 days before they withdrew, something about losing 10 BS's in less than 20 minutes did in their confidence. We, on the other hand, lost frigates and a few cruisers.
