Where X is either K (King), R (Rook), Q (Queen), N (Knight), or B (Bishop). For pawn, you don't put anything.

y is the letter of the piece's starting position. z is the number.

q is the letter of it's ending position. r is the number.

If you write a + at the end, it's check. ++ is checkmate. Or maybe # is checkmate, I can't remember.

And, for kingside castling, it's 0-0 (a zero for each square your king moves). Fitting with that, queen side castling is 0-0-0. I can't remember en passant or promotion though.
