Well they wouldn't change it that much. This was actually a remake of an older movie, not sure of the name. I want to see, I think I am going this weekend.

      Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

This movie is a remake of an older movie, "The Omega Man", which in turn was "inspired by" Richard Matheson's I Am Legend.

this "adaptation of an adaptation" made the movie unworthy even of the phrase "inspired by" it is essentially a new movie with the same title as the book. Even the character's race is different.
if you like, i can list all the differences for you, but they would contain SPOILERS

Is In Your Base, Killing Your Mans

was actually based (very unfaithfully I've heard) on a book of the same title

    I saw it Friday
I thought it was pretty good, though some of the scenes seemed drawn out, or longer than they should have bin just to make the movie longer

    The Cake Is A Lie

I wasn't hugely fond of it. I really liked the scenery and atmosphere and the general storyline, but it felt too much like they were trying to make a "feel-good" horror movie, to spread the appeal to a wider audience. I really didn't like the ending, especially pulling God into it...

Also, the darkseekers were very obvious CG, and it looked like they drew their design inspiration from Bat Boy ala Weekly World News.

It was entertaining, though, and I'm picky about movies.

I loved 'till until the ending. The ending really ruined the whole movie for me. The whole fact that more people were alive kinda killed the whole "alone, nobody to help" theme, which I loved. Pulling religion into any movie is generally a bad idea, unless it's part of the whole story. It just seemed really tacked on.

This movie was flat out amazing. (And yeah, it was loosely based off the movie 'Omega Man' Which was based off of a book 'I am Legend', written in the 50's.

This movie was definitely one of the best I've seen all year.

I mean, I'm a big fan of movies with a little bit of depth, so I was quite entertained, there's symbolism and foreshadowing everywhere. The butterfly? I mean, look at the beginning of the movie, it's thrown in there on a poster about God, then all those mentions of butterflies? Good Stuff.

Meh, having read the book, I can't help but dislike the movie, even a little. It's still an OK horror flick, but as an adaptation of the book, it is what's known as an abortion/sin against <insert deity here>

i, myself, absolutely LOVED it. i then read the book, and could not be happier with the huge dichotomy between the two. if the movie had been closely based on the book, it would have been infinitely less interesting to read the one after seeing the other, or vice versa. as for the quality of the movie, well, i thought it was both totally awesome and a good movie as well (two different things, in my mind). see, i don't think it was a horror movie. i wasnt scared or grossed out by it; it seemed to me like a sci-fi post-apocalyptic-quasi-action-psychological-movie-with-horror-elements-ie-zombie/vampire-things, which worked in my opinion incredibly well. plus the new york city three years later thing was really cool, i thought, because i live there. and will smith rocks. that is all.

Just a side note for those not aware: The Will Smith version is the third one to be made :B

    Gamer In High Heels

i loved it, though it is not 'really' based on the book...

part 1 was awesome because of the love of man and his best friend, some awesome scenes, the last one with the dog especially.

part 2 was really good because of the sudden changes in plot development.

    some problems though...

the kid in the movie was not given enough time to really make an impact, other than being there...

the fact that the house was so easy to break into seems rather stupid. wouldn't you move to a more secure place somewhere in the city or at least fortify the place BETTER, MUCH BETTER.

the monsters were smart enough to follow them hope, remember it and come back after them, but not smart enough to open the 'chimney'?? door and find the girl and the kid after seeing them go in?? yeah he had a grenade... wtf?

the ending was sudden, and short - without much meaning...

i still think one of best smiths movies.

What got me about the house fortifications was the scene where you see him locking the house down.

At that point it looks incredibly secure, and looking at the materials used (Presumably some high thickness steel or iron), it'd be a damned hard thing to break into over the course of one night, even three years of use wouldn't put enough wear on it to cause it to fail like it did.

the other thing that confused me, although just because there was no footage doesn't mean he hadn't, why did he go through the labourious task of fortifying the windows and doors, but not the walls?

IIRC houses constructed similaraly to the one used in the movie are wooden panneling, a waterproof layer over a wooden frame, insulated, then plasterboard etc on the inside. Breaking through that would be no hard task, especially for some ex-humans infected with a virus that seems to completely remove their pain responses.

It wasn't that bad actually, it was one of the few movies that made me jump. But not from fear or surprise, but from astonishment. The movie was edited to absolute supremacy, I couldn't have done it better myself. The way the past and present were pasted together in such a non linear but clear timeline was fabulous.

The creatures though, they could have been so much better. They seemed like the same old same old, hairless, bulging muscles, and a non-descript language. Can we have something different please? Gimme something to fear in the night, is that too much to ask?

One thing I did notice about the creatures though that was very interesting. When the girl vampire (or what ever you want to call them) was captured and the huge male vampire exposed himself to the sun I had an "AH HA!" moment. Correct me if I'm wrong, but was the male vampire feeling compassion for the girl? Can they still love even though they have become uncivilized? It sure seems that way to me.

Oh and I saw a continuity problem. (and yes I have only seen it once) When Will Smith is yelling at the mannequin in the middle of the street the right drawstring to the orange hood is flipped over the shoulder. When the camera does the triptych and goes back the mannequin the right drawstring is hanging. Just a little fact for ya ;)

    Interestingly enough...

I read the book. I could not put it down. I haven't watched the movie.

My brother watched the movie. He did not like it. He did not read the book.

We recounted to each other the plot details of each and it was laughable how totally different they are. Convinced me not to see the movie.
