I believe that each person's life is lead by a past soul, like a Daemon (not a demon, huge difference) who is a god in their own right. Our personal god leads us almost as our conscience to do what will lead us to be a god/Daemon when we reach the afterlife. If we do not do as they say, we die at the end, and are reincarnated as a human to start over again. If we do as they say, then we become a Daemon who will lead new souls on earth toward their Daemonity. I call it Divine Individualism.

and I am as close to atheism as I believe one can get without being the equivalent of a fanatic. I am willing to entertain the idea of a prime being, but have never had any real, personal experience that religions claim is key to a good "relationship" with god. Add in the likes of Westboro Baptist Church and the Religious Right (extremists only) and I have more reasons not to jump on the bandwagon.

so, nothing so noble as believing religion is foolish. Nothing that has changed lives for thousands of years can be considered foolish, but mistaken? sure.

Eh.. I've been raised and pummeled into believing I'm Roman Catholic... but outside of my family I hold no religion. More of a... man of science myself, if that somehow fits. I do think some people need faith in some supreme being, and it's interesting how they can bond together on such things, but I can't accept it. I'm not disrespectful, but I can get edgy if someone flatly denies the works of science (i.e. Evolution).

yea... the westboro baptist church are lunatics... i am going to outright say that... they are crazy and do not have the right idea of christianity. it is more of one mans belifs and he twists the bible to say what he wants it to... and completely disregards the new testament.

Baptized, made first holy communion, and confirmed a Roman Catholic. Leading up to Confirmation I didn't have any real stand on religion, I was young. After confirmation I would mention in conversation that I was agnostic, but right before the beginning of this school year I had a giant spiritual and emotional breakdown. I really sat down and talked for hours with my mom over beliefs and the like. I scared her and myself so much we've been to church every Sunday since then.

But I mean I don't believe every single thing in the bible. I mean my religion tells me I should, but I more or less go to church as a way to actively reflect on my faith. I was really spooked at the beginning of this school year about religion and all that jazz, but sometimes you can't sit down and rationalize things. Sometimes the only thing you have going for you is Faith, and sometimes thats all you have to console you.

I personally lean towards Atheist, but have been known to lean towards Agnostic and Christian and back again, it all really depends on what I'm thinking about and/or dealing with. I have gone from faithful to non-faithful and back and forth during my younger years, and still now during my slightly older ones. I eventually settled on taking the life teachings of the bible and other books, and what the core meaning of those and leading my life by them, but still not believing in Jesus or God or whatever, but taking the teachings of how to lead ones life without hate or judgment, and to give all I have or none at all, etc...

In all, I'm not a religious man, but more a materialistic and moralistic one. I believe in what's in front of me, and how I feel about it.

For a while in junior high and the very beginning of high school I was wiccan. It seemed to make sense, help nature, various unseen forces, two gods god and goddess) for balance. Lately I've just fallen off. School gets in the way, you don't think about it. My family is historically nonreligious. My mom doesn't believe in anything really, sort of a golden rule type thing. My brother is atheist, and studies philosophy a lot. And my dad is Zen Buddhist, but only has been for 5-7 years. My family is sorta confusing religiously. Now that I'm thinking of it, I might as well just rant for a bit. As far as basic premise of beliefs, I think that there are subtle forces that control the world, that can be manipulated discreetly, and should not be abused. They originate from the four basic elements, and are not to be altered lightly, or for anything of evil intent.As far as gods go? None or two. Either there is no supreme being, or there are two that balance each other, a yin and yang type thing. No good, no evil, yet still polar opposites. I have very serious issues with the christian God/ jewish Yahweh/ muslim Alah (who most people don't know are the same being, I'm not kidding, look in the koran (I took world religions last semester)). I really don;t think that one being could make a whole universe in six days, then kick back for a day and hope it all works out. I think that any being smart enough to make a universe, needs to be smart enough to pay attention for it's maintainence, and keep it a manageable size. That's just a start, I could go on with issues in the bible. I also think in terms of sort of spiritual beings that are of these forces. Now, I'm also a man of science too. I think in terms of evolution, and natural selection, but until science has answers for all these little coincidences, I'll go with spiritual influence and little spiritual creatures to maintain them. How about the afterlife? I'm gonna go with reincarnaiton. In my opinion, if all of the everybody went to heaven (because our all loving god is too nice to send people to hell, or is he?), it must get awful crowded up there. Speaking of which, where would it be? Not in the sky, the astronauts would have hit it. Not in visible space, because we'd see it. And not outside visible space, because even though we'd have an eternity to get there, that's just cruel. So I pick reincarnation. It explains what happens to our mind after death, gives us something new to worry about, and lets our body help the plants grow. You see, I think there is a reason for everything, so until I have a definite answer, I'm gonna make up a few that sound good, and I also don't need to listen to your answers, because you can't prove them. Regardless, I do feel the need to say this. These are my opinions, if you don't like them, fine, if you like them, cool, I'm not alone. But if you see somebody's beliefs and you think they're stupid, be nice, don't insult, just try to explain why you don't like them, and continue on, you have a whole lifetime to figure it out.

Oh, one more thing, has anybody else disassembled an established religion?

Well. While that's true, I also believe that there's the possability of a 'higher being' so to speak. I don't believe so much in heaven/hell, nor in 'God' in any particular way.

I'm catholic, but I don't believe everything the Church says, and I definitely dislike the hierarchy of the church. My family has kind of made themselves enemies of our archbishop

Ok. Yes, most people out there don't take everything seriously, but it's those really radical Christian extremists that get on my nerves, or any religious extremists for that matter. I don't necessarily believe strongly in all of my conclusions, but that's the best I can do, and until I know for certain, I keep an open mind, and dislike the people who think they know for certain. Unless they all got only part of it right, they can't all be truly right. I have just delogiced religious extremism... I think. Regardless, I tend to rant, but I'm trying not too (I also repeat points a lot)(did I mention the repetition?). I agree with Dr. Foreman from House "We can't contemplate god, it's like a cockroach contemplating nuclear physics," or something to that effect.

I would say I'm agnostic. While I don't believe there's a God, even if there is, I don't think that they would keep a good person out of heaven just because they don't believe in them, so either way I'm set.

lazurus... yes you are totaly right... well first off...allah and god are the same person... so well yea... second... well okay the whole Islam violence is the same as extremist Christianity just a bit different beliefs...

God promotes peace... but at certain times... he understands that certain actions must be taken...

for example... when the Israelites were in the desert after escaping Egypt... they settled near another tribe... some people began to have sex with the neighboring tribe. this under God's law was sinful and had to be stopped... so God spoke to the leader (i do not know if it was moses or not) and told him basically kill those who are guilty or a certain people... this was a nonstop thing... a man saw a woman and a Jew man go into a tent to have sex... he ran in their with a spear and threw it through both of them... killing them both God at that instant told moses to stop the killings... and the man who threw the spear... his descendants have been in the Jewish government since then... direct descendants that is...

the point to that is... God was trying to keep Israel a clean and pure race and a clean and pure people... he knew that if that continued they would be just like the rest of the world and that they would ultimately die... and because that was God's people he did not want that to happen... and so it was ultimatly to try and save them... God has favor on the jewish people and if that continued he could not continue to have favor on them.

i hope that kinda clears up some confusion on why God had people kill his own people...

i know this is going to bring up another point so i am just going to clear it up to...

God did not make that happen... moses listened to God and asked for his help.. .God told him what he SHOULD do... moses did not have to follow that but he chose to... so we do have free will it is just if we choose to listen and follow what God says or not...
