I've had a play around with this and I think it's pretty good. It's easy to pick up and fairly straight forward, but what do the people who know what they're doing think? Is it advanced enough? Too different from other editors? Just right? Let's hear it.

Ehh..

It's by no means a bad editor (I'm using it at the moment) but the way it works doesn't sit well with me.

I can't put my finger on it, it's just not as comfortable as UnrealED (3 is still insane though >.>).

I'm actually having a hell of a time adding ladders :/ I can get stairs down, and breaking glass, all the fun stuff, but ladders? Just.. Cannot get that working for love nor money

  It'd be nice if it had the realtime play preview function the Crysis editor has. That's very neat if your just playing around.

    I started using it about a week ago, a friend wants me to do the levels for some mod or other he's working on for CS:S.. Figured it couldn't do any harm :B
    
    I've not used the Crysis editor, so I'm unfamilier with the play preview.
    
    That said, if you just down the settings on the Source game you're working with, it's not a huge load time :B

  Ladders are easy as hell man!
  
  Just put a block right in front of the actual ladder and assign the climb texture to it. Boom it becomes climbable.

    Bloody thing wouldn't register it as a climbable surface, so in the game you just run at it like a spacking out beer can.

  Most of them come with the CD if the game, but they usually aren't listed in the installer (the readme should tell you if it is included). Hammer is available off steam if you own a source game, you can find it under the tools tab.

  Following up on what ʊChalkley3 said, it's Valves core source games. For simplicity, here's a link.
  
  If you own one of those then you're entitled to download the Source SDK.
  
  However! If you want to mod HL2 and CS:S you need to have both games. Day of Defeat seems to be included with one of those two games, not sure why.

  It's the Map Editor for the Source Engine. So all the games that run on Source, like Half Life 2, you can use it to make levels for them.
