I've been a fangirl for Harrison Ford for years.
Who else is excited about seeing him with the whip again?
There's been a lot of criticism saying that Ford is too old to do the new movie but I'm still pretty hopeful it'll rock. What are your opinions?

I give this movie a B-. That's not bad considering a lot of critics are blasting the hell out of it.
I enjoyed the movie and think if you are an Indy fan like myself you need to go see it. But you need to keep in mind that this movie is fashioned after the 1950's style of B movie/camp stories. If you've seen Iron Giant, you can get a clue as to what exactly I am talking about. You should also familiarize yourself with what was going on in the 1950's both in America and in the Communist world. Communism and our reaction to it back then is a lot different from how we hold it today.
Ok first, the characters. I loved them all. Indy WAS Indy. Mutt...he kinda annoyed me but I don't think that Shia was the best pick for this roll (he's too cute and Disney to be James Dean/Marlon Brando). But he did his job, so there aren't too many complaints there. There was a lot going on in the film so you had to take the characters as implied and face value. If you haven't watched the first three Indy films, you won't get how these characters relate, especially Marion and Indy.
Second, of course, is wardrobe. A frickin plus. The hair was right on, the colors were right on, there were even BULLET BRAS. In fact, historical setting as far as cars and the diner and how people acted was really well done. It wasn't Pleasantville 50's, it was real 50's. The greaser-jock fight was awesome. Again, my only single complaint was Shia's hair. It was HAIRSPRAYED. I know the difference between greased back and hairsprayed. He couldn't even get a comb through it.
And then, what brought down the score. Namely, George Lucas and his hairbrained ideas. There's a scene where Shia is swinging from vines with a bunch of monkeys. WTF was that shit? Was that the, "I can't think of what to put here so let's borrow from Tarzan," scene? Then, the fridge. I'm sure that could happen, and I don't know all there is to know about surviving a nuclear explosion, but the fact that he got launched and hit the ground in a fridge would make me think that Indy got some broken bones. I understand physics enough to know that you need something to break the shock of the fall. Then, the boat. The fact that they survived drops like that THREE TIMES in a boat and walked away unscathed made me realize that someone was smoking crack. Let's face it, Temple of Doom didn't fare well because of this kind of stuff. Even if they did survive the first two drops, the third was in a way that even if you didn't hit the bottom and break all your bones, you most likely would have been drowned by the force of all that water.
And last, the ending. The whole aliens thing didn't bug me. I know the whole "crystal skull" thing and I wasn't surprised, but I was disappointed that the directors failed the show us what Irina saw. They could have easily just flashed scenes from 1957's future, which to someone who hasn't lived through it and must know it all at once, would be pretty frightening. Or at least SOMETHING to show us why a character like Irina would suddenly be begging for mercy (because she's pretty indestructible throughout the entire movie).
So that's basically it. Maybe Lucas will wise up an include a better ending in a Director's Cut.

It was... okay. But I think it should have stayed at a trilogy, unless they were going to make the 4th a looong time ago.
