I used to play a Demon on AOL chat. I had a whole clan & ran with a few top Vampires of the AOL back in the day. Man getting real set dice from the TSR groups where hard & hardly any one got them.

    Ah, I've done the vampire thing on AOL (of course, this was when i was way younger than I am now). I've also ran through werewolves, elves, humans, etc. I was a huge dork. :>

    The thing on AOL then was the "Association of Rhydin Guilds" :/

      Oh Rhydin, how I do miss thee. AOL was a odd chat/rp & I did that long ago, back in High School really. They did have set dice by TSR, that was AOLs way to keep the gamers happy with legal dice. We had a problem with non legal that was 100+ sided & all that when people needed to use 20 & know the rules.
      I started in Red Dragon Inn then moved to the user made Taverns & areas whih I met alot of weird & nice people.
      Hell there were as many Guilds there as you see on a WoW server & just as crazy. I ran D.I.E. with a fellow name Goramag back in the day. I miss him.
      Heck I still have all my info from back then. I have 3 folders for 3 char.s and all the guild info. I don't know why i have these things but it's nice to reread them.
      I noticed I totally such at typing back then but I don't think too many people cared.

        But yeah, I ran through guilds called BLOoD, GoD, ATK, RoT (I ran this one), B.I.T.C.H, OBR, and a slew of other ones I can't remember.

              Sorry to say I didn't know any of them. Course the whole system was huge & I couldn't know too many peeps. I started just before 2.0 AOL so I got to meet alot of the starters just before they left. I left the RP I think around 6.0, maybe 5.0.
              I tended to stay away from Vamps alot due to the drama from people with that type of RP. They always had this issues of never honoring a kill. You die you need a new name but they'd just come back... some how stronger & more annoying.

                  I know, it's nuts. I know most people din't want to try a KM or even honor it but the good players did & did honor it. It made things move along.
                  I know Vamps got more snooty when that Vampire game came out. Then they wouldn't honor any dice other then their own. When that wasn't bad, new player would follow thier rules or make theirs own up & every on seemed to be god mode sept the old players. I had to stop because it was just getting silly. More so when the Gor players started poping up & that crap is just nuts & shouldn't be allowed near kids.

                    Yeah, this is why I migrated my "role play" to Second Life. Things aren't quite as bad, and I get to make up crap as I go without having to worry about people being retarded. :>

                        It's just a place to chat...but in 3D. There are places to role play and I go to them because I can use weapons and other things and fight it out with other people like I would in a game (or on the old AOL chats - except in 3D) and earn the exp points to gain a higher ranking in fighting and such.


                        To me, it's just one big game..although there are other benefits to it that extend far beyond that.

                        Big business is starting to use it for advertising and such. Some companies are using it to conduct "interviews" with potential employees that may be in other states or countries.

                        It's getting fairly huge.
