Review: GTA IV; An Exercise in Controversy and Complacency.

Personally i'm not that impressed with it and it definatly doesn't deserve the hype it gets. It seems like a downgrade compared with previous GTA games, with some features as buying property, rpg elements and silly sidemissions ( aka ambulance driver) removed. Liberty City is really well made, but there's nothing much to do in it (no rampage, hidden packages etc.). Also while some missions are really creative, most of them fall under the category of drive to point A, kill guy and run from police. While the graphics and effects are excellent, gameplay wise it seems weaker than the rest of the series.

actually I beat the game, sidemissions and even the the missions for those people on the street. I have most of my character relations at 100% and I bought all the clothes in the game (cause thats really all u can do with your money). I played the online as well, its fun, for at least the first 5min until you realize there is no skill involved and its a mad dash for the good weapons and using the lock on system to kill everyone without an M4. Also the ambulance mission was just an example of the many things they took out, I am not particularly drawn to it. Also I dont know how you can say the game is for me when I played all the other GTAs in the series (except 1 and 2). This GTA clearly has a weaker story compared to vice city and san andreas.

I also provided various things that were wrong with the game, while you just said you liked it without providing and material on it. I never said it was a bad game (as I would have given it a lower score). But does it really deserve the 10/10 its getting from reviews.

I guess a 7.5 is a little to low, I'd change to a 8, however i'm sure we can agree that it does not deserves the 10/10s it seems to be recieving.

I don't even bother with the story, I just go around killing people and creating havoc. I'm surprised how long it's managed to stay fun. My brother is the one that gets on with the story and I hear him screaming in frustration across the house whenever he's doing one, but he's incompetent, so that probably shouldn't happen to you.

It's very replayable and to me, that's one of the most important things in a game, to make it last, so I would approve.

My biggest complaint about it is the darkness. I swear to Lord you can't see ANYTHING at times in the game. I find myself sometimes losing missions just because I can't see a damned thing in front of me, or the door the person ran in to.
