Composite is going to be the cheapest. However, there are umpteen million capture cards around.
My initial thought it is an ATi All In Wonder. I've run a couple of those in the past, and they were absolutely great.
However, they may not be in your price bracket :B
This is what I'd suggest you check, you can search for damn near any filters.
Keep your eyes peeled for the average gamers.
Nothing's broken, it's just functioning differently.

It'll have to be able to record from composite input.
I know for a fact that AIW cards can do that, my uncle and I have both used them for that exact feature, to get stuff on VHS onto pc :B
