NEW: Blog System Changes

I have pushed out some updates to the Blog System as follows:
* The My Blog page now lists Published and Draft blog entries in separate areas.
* The Write (add/edit) page has been cleaned up, old stuff removed, and a few things added.
* Published and Draft saves now work appropriately. This means that Published blogs only appear on your userpage. Draft entires are just that; a draft, waiting to be published.
You will notice there is not a Post Date column for drafts, only a Modified date. The way this works is that drafts only update their modified date. When you Publish, the Post Date is populated and that is what shows on your userpage, it also determines which blog post shows on your userpage (the most recent). When you edit an entry which has already been Published, the system assumes that when you hit Publish again, that you want to renew the Post Date (which will, of course, automatically make it the most recent). If you do not wish to renew the Post Date, there is now a checkbox for that very purpose. Also, draft saves will now not send out notifications to your watchers/friends.
We are now storying "formatted" entries separately. This is mainly a technical reason, but what it also means is that older blogs you have written which have formatting code in them will not parse correctly when viewing. To fix this, just 'edit' the entry and save it again. This will push the contents through the formatter and it will then be good.
If you have any problems, please let me know ASAP.
Thanks.

I don't even know what I was thinking when I made that comment.
I have used the edit option before that original post.
Surely you know the confidence is already there that you not only know what you are doing but probably have anticipated requests for minor things the site may be lacking in at the moment.
Loving the site.
Just got my RL gamer friend to join. He is impressed too though I am trying to get him to become more involved to say so for himself.

You would be surprised some of the small things the community has brought up that I have then thought 'duhhh, why didnt I think of that?'. So please, keep bringing them up.
Thanks for the nice comments. We are trying to get some of the larger systems in place which will really transform this place from the Forum with benefits which is more or less is right now, to something exceptional.
I just need more coders!

I just recently added the 'Modified' date column to the database, meaning that all pre-existing entries automatically default to the db base date. If you edit them, and click Save as Draft again you will notice that they update.
Since this does not actually impact how they are viewed, then it's not something I'm worrying about. On all new drafts it will be correct.

No, it's written from scratch. As is everything around here. Which is why some things take a little time to get fixed up.
