We would like to apologize to all non-subscribers for a very annoying bug, which we just recently became aware of, but you have most likely been aware of for some time.

In the process of adding paging support to comments on userpages, I miscommunicated the manner in which the subscriber feature should be implemented. Therefore the developer who was actually making the code work, set it up so that if you are not a subscriber (which includes visitors who are not logged in), it shows every comment ever posted to that userpage.

As we can all imagine, for many userpages, this equals to a lot of comments, and can very quickly cause your browser to begin screaming for help.

We have now resolved this, and changed it to the way it was meant to be in the first place. All non-subscribers will see a maximum of eight(8) comments on a userpage. This should be much nicer on your browsers.


This happened because all the developers/team have subscriptions. We are resolving this problem in the future by putting together a small team who makes it part of their routine to check every section of the site, every day, as a logged-in subscriber, and logged-out.

This will allow us to catch problems like this and resolve them before they become a horrendous issue.
