So what made you buy it? a dynasty support buy? blue-ray compatibility? "superior" (explain) construction? Those sick ass commercials with the ravens (if i bought one that would be why).

If you're well off money-wise, have a big HD TV, like to buy movies on disc, and have an insatiable desire to own nothing but the most top of the line gadgets and technologies you'd do well with a PS3.

No really, I'm just joshin'. Metal Gear Solid 4 is still exclusive, and probably will remain so, because Xbox 360 owners like their games to be games and not movies. HEEYYO!
If that doesn't attract the PS3 lovers to the thread I dunno what will

Worrying is about as effective as chewing gum to solve algebra
Of course, there is the Blu-Ray situation, which if DDS doesn't take off, is going to be taking the DVD out slowly (More so than DVD did with VHS, due to the lack of groundbreaking changes).
The console is, technically, only partially superior to the 360. From a developer standpoint, neither console has 'killer specs', they both do one or two things better than each other, which in the end, brings it down to a VERY similar level.
The worst thing about it, as I said, is the lack of games. This is not helped by Sony no longer 'buying' exclusives, and the incredible complexity of the CBEA (Ever tried writing something to successfully optimise up to 7 cores?), and its method of interfacing with the rest of the hardware. Both those factors are making the 360 a viable alternate in the sense that M$ are willing to buy exclusivity, the 360 is easier to code for (Due to its arguably 'slower' technology).
Developers have had less time with the actual Ps3 dev kits, a large majority of the dev teams only received actual PS3 dev hardware six or seven months before the PS3 launched (Anybody remember the Warhawk presentation with SixAxis? Lack of time with the actual hardware.), and were working on 'fake' PS3's (Servers, basically, also seen at an E3 presentation). Which, of course, suggests that the developers are only just starting with the PS3 as a platform, and I would believe that.
Whether that kickstarts the development of more PS3 based games or not, I can't even begin to speculate.
It may even come to it that the next M$ console launches before the PS3 picks up the userbase and games library akin to the PS2. Of course, that all depends whether M$ are working on the next console with a large team, or two guys locked in a basement. If at all.
Of course, another arguing point is the PS3 online service being free. In my experience, this is no bad thing, there weren't any issues that I recall with the service, and well, it's free.
The controllers are getting the dual shock back, at the loss of SixAxis, but those L2/R2 triggers are still bloody awful, and horribly uncomfortable to use for extended periods of time.
If you have the spare cash, a decent HDTV to use it on (With HDMI of course), then honestly? It's not a bad console. It just won't get much use, unless you have a creepy addiction to the games on it (MGS4 comes to mind..). The worst that'll happen is you'll feel cheated in that there is sod all backwards compatibility, and there's not a lot to do on the console.

Honestly, probably the only reason I have an Xbox 360 over a PS3, is that it came out first, instant gratification rather than waiting forever for a PS3 to become available to buy not on e-Bay. The only thing attractive to the PS3 to me is free online play, but i also don't mind paying for the Xbox Live. I think it's awesome and totally worth it, and with the updates coming this fall it will be even better. I have a PS2 and really never played it much at all, it was pretty much a glorified DVD player my first 2 years at college, and it didn't even play movies that well. Not that I'm really comparing PS2 to PS3, but that's probably also what it'd be, just Blue Rays instead which are considerably more expensive and i don't even have an HDTV.
Give me reasons to want one!
I REGRET NOTHING!!!

General Rioter
Upgradable HD: As was stated above you can place any 7200RPM 2.5" HD into the system without voiding your warranty and is a very simple process involving a few screws and a fairly quick reformat. (I currently have a 350GB in mine..for reasons I will state later)
Multimedia: The system is a marvelous Multimedia device with the honor of being the only DivX certified console. (Yes the 360 will play DivX and Xvid) Both systems are a little iffy on the format at times, However the Ratio and image quality are generally superior on the PS3 and the PS3 handles streaming in my opinion better then the 360. And as for the hard drive I mentioned earlier I am able to just cleanly copy most avi files directly onto my PS3 HD which since it is 350Gb means I can store a large amount of material that with just a button press starts playing.($64 for the HD btw way cheaper then the silly proprietary format MS chose to use)
Controllers and other devices: Again this is only my opinion but, the Dual Shock 3 controller is more comfortable to hold and use then the 360 controller and the charge of the battery lasts longer and honestly if you count the price of the controller plus battery the Ps3 controller is cheaper at retail then the 360. Opinion aside I feel the Bluetooth connectivity is superior as I can use the same headset I use for my phone as I do for my PS3. And on a purely side point everything I have plugged into the Ps3 usb ports which Includes the Zune and the 360 camera has worked. Sort of an open source console in the context of hard ware.
Online: Online becomes tricky, The ps3 is free however it is not standardized across games where as you pay for Live but, you have a reasonable expectation that on each game for live you will get the same experience. The PS3 uses alot of dedicated servers though not always and the 360 is primarily P2P servers. Just raw chatting the 360 can do 2 person voice and video chat. The ps3 can do 4. Now as a beta tester of Home which is also a free service, when Home is working properly it is one of the most awesome things you have ever seen as I have met up with 17 people had a conversation and then ALL of us went together as a group into a game of Warhawk, however at the worst of times Home is one of the most awful things I have ever experienced. (Think WoW at launch but, worse) Both do things better then each other but, neither in my opinion is a clear winner..even if you don't count the cost of $50 a year.
Online Part 2: This is for their hosted content, patches, updates, Movies, TV shows, DLC the works. Again if I was asked 6 months ago the 360 would have won hands down. However the PS3 video store is now just as good if not superior in content (Sony Pictures has a lot of connections yo) And while the 360 trickles DLC updates to their server so anytime you turn it on you might be pleasantly surprised to find a Demo or a map pack you have been waiting for the Ps3 is pretty much Just a Thursday event. I am not sure which method is better to be honest.
Blu Ray: This got it's own section because as the most future proof blu ray player out there it deserves special notice. Blu Ray is still a process that gets regular updates such as picture in picture commentary and other little tweaks and updates. The Ps3 will never not be able to play new Blu Ray since it will be updated for the life of the console to play the new standard. Not to mention it is the Blu Ray player of Choice for Criterion collect and those guys are snobs so it must not suck too much.
Games: And now we come to what you would think would be the bread and butter of a Game console. And while I disagree that the ps3 has no good exclusives, (Eye of Judgment, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Motorstorm, Resistance, Metal Gear solid 4, not to mention Little Big planet which I have played and is phenomenally awesome but, also MLB 08 which is one of the best sports games I have ever played and far and away the best baseball title right now..oh and should I mention that I also have a preview copy of Resistance 2 which is just mind blowing) And Sony has decided to no longer pay companies to make them exclusive I also don't think that their library is weak by any regard either. And their up and coming list impresses me more then the 360's.
So..there you go my opinions mixed in with a few facts on the Ps3. Though to be perfectly honest you are better off getting both systems because the day and age is about games and it sucks to miss out on a game because the company decides to make it an exclusive.
Final Opinion: If I was forced to pick just one system..then I would have to take my PC mwa haha
