This is really a friend, not me, i swear.
anywhoo, I sent him a recruit link for NR, cuz im subtle like that. He tries to open it, but the site doesn't like AOL browser apparently. He WANTS to use Firefox, even has it installed, but for some reason, only the AOL browser can browse the internet. all others give a "cannot connect to server" error.
he says he has always used AOL browser, so he doesnt know if this is new or not....his comp is a compaq presario C300.

any help would be appreciated.

    If AOL is his ISP, then he'll need to connect to the internet via the AOL Dialer to connect to the internet, rather than using that bloated browser. From there he should be able to choose what he browses on.

    There's probably another way of doing it (ie; adding a new default connection in IE to your AOL broadband/username etc), but I've not bothered trying them yet

      ahh..yes...unfortunately he has comcast, not AOL. dont ask me why he is using their browser, i wouldnt know. He did however say that unless it is activly harming his computer, he would just use their browser rather than reformat or something.

    AOL is like AIDS for computers. Given that he *has* AOL installed, and that it's a Compaq, I'd say it's some less than helpful crapware that came with it. Many members of my family seem to do this, and when they ask me why their computer is so slow and I look at all the shit that came with it (Norton would be a good example), I just facepalm. 43 Startup programs? Hells yeah. The joys of family tech support.
