What's in the future for CoD? Only Treyarch and Infinity Ward really know, but one thing's for sure I'll be passing on 5 since it's still in WW2.. but 6 sounds promising if it isn't another WW2 shooter. :)

What do you folks think?

    Shut up and die.

I believe it's been speculated that Call of Duty 6 goes further to the future, but little has been officially said.

I think it's the best out of the options they had. I mean think about it. The modern warfare thing has already been done. If they made another modern war game, it wouldn't be Call of Duty 5, but more or less Call of Duty 4.5. So, they are now left with the option of shooting for another WWII game or going into the future. In my opinion, WWII is a much better setting for the game than futuristic warfare. When you think of the Call of Duty franchise (my favorite, by the way), futuristic shooter does not come to mind. Personally I hate future games (yes, including Halo 3), but I'm sure some of you have different opinions.

After all that, they decide to take another crack at WWII. But, they know that people are most likely tired of the traditional WWII game, so they innovate it by taking the battle to the Pacific where you will fight the Japanese in the jungle environments. I don't think they could have made a better decision...

Yeah, modern warfare has been done. Maybe even done to death, but so has the WW2 genre, and they were on that bandwagon for a loooong time. ;)

Well they've made plenty of World War II games without calling it Call of Duty 3.5 or such, so I don't see a problem with that. And they certainly could do another modern warfare game and they'd sell just as well doing it.

I was hoping 4 was the turning point where they'd stop doing the WWII thing to death, that everyone and their dog has been doing for the last seven or eight years. Bah.

I hope 6 is either another more 'up to date' game, or in the not too distant future.

I expect, though, to be disappointed :D

Aye, that it is, but the ratio of 'up to date' and 'done to death WWII' CoD games are incredibly unfairly stacked, imo.

I heard it was gonna be called Call of Duty: Sumerian Sunset. It takes place in the early days of civilization, and it's your job as a squad of elite stone-throwers to take down the heretics and invading Assyrians. One new feature: heretic meter. If your heretic meter gets too high, your own troops stone you. To prevent this, you must press X to chant regularly, and Y to bow to your leaders. Should you accidentally commit a blasphemy, you should immediately press Right Trigger + X to atone for your misgiving.

Sumerian Sunset will truly be an epic game.

You shouldn't avoid 5 just because it's WWII... it's been done to death, but so far it's CoD4 with different gametypes, weapons,, vehicles, perks (there are 4 slots now) and Kill-streak-goodies.

Medal of Honour, Battlefield 1942, Day of Defeat, Call of Duty's 1-3, Call of Duty's numerous expansion packs, Medal of Honour's numerous expansion packs, Battelefield 1942: Road to Rome & Secret Weapons of World War 2, and many, many more tell me that I can get anything CoD5 has to offer already in many games. Powerups/perks are nothing unique either.

The gameplay is pretty much a modded CoD4. I wasn't going to get it until I got in the beta, and tried it.

Did they ever do a Vietnam game? I don't remember them ever making a CoD based in Vietnam.
