Is In Your Base, Killing Your Mans

It's come to my attention that a lot of people have some strange hate for Muslims and most of the time other cultures. For those of you who are, that is complete ignorance. Please, go out of whatever tv channel your watching and read something. Just because you don't understand the culture there is no reason to hate them(Sorry, but i feel very strongly about this. I'm very interested in religions and I've been reading religious literature: The Torah, the new testament, and now I'm reading the Qu'ran) But i think ignorance is the problem with everyone in the U.S. When men are arrested for wearing their religion's symbol or custom there is a problem. When we have people in Iraq and other areas and not a single one of them has any idea of the culture or religion, there is a problem. It's like sending someone to China without any idea of Confucianism.

I don't know many blindly ignorant racists... They all live in a trailor park somewhere like arkansas.

Anywho, islam is okay by me if Rage against the machine backs it up =p Now THAT'S ignorant, I guess lol

    -------Psuedo-serious part

I'm going to say this in the nicest way possible. You hit the target but missed the bullseye.

When you say that ignorance is a problem with EVERYONE in the U.S., this is not true. Un/ill-informed and ignorant are too very different things. I don't consider myself ignorant. I was brought up Christian, went faith-shopping and bought myself some buddhism. I may not be all that informed about every other religion so i'm left to guestimate. Is that wrong? I don't think so cuz otherwise I'd spend ALL my time learning every single belief of every single person in the world.

Point 2- Are we the only ignorant ones? Why don't you look up a true percentage of U.S. extremists (to the terrorist degree) as compared to that of Iraq, or any other less developed country. This problem IS prevelant in North America, but not limited to. In fact, to put all this blame on us without adding other countries to the list somewhat ignorant. It's best not to play the "pointing the finger" game. Recognize a problem. Think globally. Act locally. That's the best advice I can give you.

    That is all.

@Point 1. But ill-informed is basically ignorance, just a form in which less blame is placed upon the person in question. They are ill-informed because they don't find out the information for themselves, they don't actually seek to learn anything, which is the same as being ignorant.

That would actually be more "un-informed". Being ill-informed means one thing. If we break it down, it'll make it real simple. The word "ill" means bad, or not well. "informed" means having information about a specific topic. So technically, ill-informed really means informed, but with the wrong info.

Uninformed, is where they don't know anything at all. Again, break it down. The "un" qualifier is used in many places to disqualify something. It is, essentially (and I'm not sure the correct grammatical term for this) a disqualifier. And again, informed means having information. So uninformed, is equal to no information.

So, if we're gonna talk about ignorance, if we compare uninformed vs. ill-informed, un-informed is the larger of two evils. Now do notice, that I said "evils". Plural. What I am not saying, is that ill-informed is not a form of ignorance, but it is a lesser form of ignorance. Being ill-informed means that you feel you did the research, but the info was bad and you don't realize it. Being uninformed means you didn't even do the research.

You mention that being ill-informed means that they don't go out and find the information out for themselves. This can and cannot be true, because maybe they don't go looking, but they get the information anyways, say through 10 o' clock news. A trusted source, who could have it's facts wrong (See, Fox news). Or maybe they do go looking, and say they find the same clip from the news. They actively looked for it, but it still had bad information. Any smart person, granted, would take this info and then keep looking for a little while longer, within which there (random guess) is about a 50%-50% chance split of them getting the same info, or different info depending on how they know how to search.

So to wrap up, both are technically forms of ignorance, but one is a greater form than the other, and we should be worried about both.

I think why people tend to think there are more assholes in the US is because more of us have internet access. So inevitably there's going to be more retards.

You could say the same thing about Islam. If people can have a wrong interpretation of American culture because of the Americans that they see, then we can do the same thing with Islam. There are plenty of decent Muslims in the world; the problem is that the ones that Americans see are bin Laden and his ilk. Bin Laden is evil -> Bin Laden fights in the name of Islam -> Islam is evil.

It's true. It just proves that the majority of the warld is fairly ignorant. Of course, I don't know when this hasn't been true.

I don't have any hate for Muslims at all. In fact, I find them fascinating with their complete devotion to their faith and camaraderie among themselves. I too am interested in World Religions, my favorite being Buddhism. I don't see why people have to hate one another because they believe something different. If anything we should embrace one another and in doing so this would make the world peaceful. Instead of blowing each other up to smithereens.

Worrying is about as effective as chewing gum to solve algebra

I only hate people, regardless of religion (Hating people based on what they believe is stupid, no matter how you try and explain it), who blow themselves up to make a point.

The only other time I hate religion is when some git is waking me up/interrupting me/being a pain in the ass about getting me to believe in god the same way they do. If I wanted to believe in god the same way they do, then I'd surely have joined their religion long ago, and them badgering me about it stinks of them assuming I'm too stupid to work out what I want to believe on my own. I hate being called stupid.

Angry asshole, I can deal with, but not stupid.

Though, if you believed smearing yourself in fox excrement and running around in public naked would bring you spiritual enlightenment, then I'd probably hate you for that. Mainly because you'd smell like fox shit.

Sadly I am a bit of a pessimist in that I think even if we were all the same skin tone, religion and political affiliation, we would find some way to hate on each other. The green eyed people vs. the blue eyed. The hairy vs. the hairless. etc...
There was an Episode of the original Star Trek that covered the idea.
