Worrying is about as effective as chewing gum to solve algebra
So, I was reading next-gen.biz, and just so happened to click on the BIA:HH hands on preview. I didn't mean to, I've never been a fan of the series, but I read it anyway.
N-G focused almost instantly on the gore level (Which they also neglected to show any pictures of, probably for rating reasons), apparently there's an algorithm that allows the enemy (Or ally, if you're incompetant) to react differently to explosions/bullets etc. N-G supposedly exploded a German machine gunner "clean in half, sending his legs and torso flying through the air in opposite directions" This left the N-G testers posing the question, is the game too gory.
Even though I've not seen pictures of it, and only have their word to go on, I'm going to say no. There are far too many games that focus on war, when no matter how you kill someone (Bullet, grenade, tank etcetc) they always have terrible damage, and really don't look all that great. Which, to me at least, is pathetic. It's making the idea of war more friendly. Not so long ago a Military bod said that games were great. I'm not surprised, are you going to be scared of going to war if all you've experianced of it is barely horrifying enough to make you think about it for longer than it takes to reload? If you see a guy ripped in half, and there's no expense spared on the organs falling out of him, then you're likely to take at least a little bit more notice, surely?
I hope the game has an option to turn it off, though, for the squemish people/people who're not interested in seeing someones liver fall out when they're hit with a grenade.
However, the game looks pretty nice, and sounds rather good (From the N-G playtest), and may be worth a purchase. Not having played the rest of the BIA series, I don't know if I'm way off in expecting to enjoy some tactical combat, or whether I'm bang on.
What're your thoughts?

And you ARE right. It makes war seem sterile. I think Free Radical's new FPS, "Haze" is precisely about this. But it's been delayed until judgment day.

Also, i hope that it will feature detailed damage on the characters (Like Sniper Elite only covered with next-gen juice)
Why haven't you got Mount & Blade yet?

But yes, you're right, if it has next-gen flavour and Sniper Elite style damage, then it should rock the shizzle :B

The Germans sometimes go on holidays to France. They call these trips blitzkrieg.
